Foot Wart vs Corn
Warts are a common benign lesion, found more often in older children and young adults. Although thought to be similar to a callus, a wart is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), while calluses are caused by excess pressure during the biomechanics of walking. Because of this, warts are found on both weight bearing and non-weightbearing surfaces of the foot, while calluses are only on weight bearing and high friction surfaces.
Foot Wart Removal
Due to the viral nature of warts, they are difficult to cure. We employ many different treatment plans when it comes to removing warts, including acid treatment, cryotherapy, laser, and complete excision of the lesion in a surgical setting. Rare cases may require immunosuppresent therapy, as well as immunostimulation, to help the body eradicate HPV.
